If you get the chance with all the joviality going on, Rochester High St is worth a look and around the Castle. Lots of nice old pubs too. All just down the road from Chatham Dockyard.

Chatham area - What's worth a look?

Thanks for that. Very useful.

For any others of you who know the North Kent/Chatham area, perhaps you would be so kind as to suggest to us Northerners what's worth checking out in the area.

Rochester bridge itself is an historic landmark and worth a look, Chatham was an important naval base in that last war, and there is a Russian submarine moored in the middle of it.

Capt'n I think your going to need a few spare SD card's with you with all the potential clicking away going on. The Esplanade along Rochester Castle grounds & in front of the Cathedral might make a worthy back drop to a line up of XT's.

If you don't get your nautical fill at the Dockyard the I see the the rusty old wreck The Medway Queen that was, has had a major face lift and is moored up 5 minutes away. She was a big part of the 'Little Ships' evacuation from Dunkirk.

HMS Montgomery may still be laying in the Medway's estuary, that can be seen from the Strand when the tides out heavily laden with WW2 ammunition.

Problem is, I've just come out of hospital after 7 weeks non weight bearing, following treatment to an old injury, and I am pretty much static and can only walk short distances, up to last week, my presence at this party was hanging in the "maybe", now I know I can attend but I can only go where my car can reach and I am limited to very few places, hiking and climbing of stairs are out of the question for me for a long time.

We'll see what we can do on the day.

Cheers.

That's a real bu55er Capt'n, sorry to hear that. Perhaps an investment in one of those flying drones could help. Then the camera could do the leg work for you.
Take it easy mate.
