New tenere?
I hope this picture originated from Yamaha it would give me some hope:Photos_3NT5BI:
|
We can only hope it's Yamaha's reply to Honda's New Africa twin...
|
Would Yamaha put Excel rims on as stock?

My 2014 Tenere rims are marked excel!

Your a lucky man then!..:toothy4:

Believe me no one will be happier than me if this is the new Tenere, and excel rims a major step forward to keep it light. All fingers crossed.

The pic is nice but it is a mock up. The spy photos which came around last week show the exhaust pipe running on the right hand side of the swing arm, the swing arm itself has more sharper angle than the one on this picture. The bike will be most likely 18/21 wheel set and most likely they will look at lowering the cost/price which inevitably puts Excel outside of the equation.
Nevertheless I like this one. Just sharing thoughts out loud, I do not work for Yamaha neither have inside info |

http://www.moto-choice.com/PRImages/...DSC03933-2.jpg It's got linkage underneath for the vertical shock on a KTM, but the MT-07 engine is designed for a horizontal shock. Infact you can see the front part of the shock in the mock-up image attached to the engine, but it doesn't go anywhere at the other end because the KTM linkage is below the swingarm! Not sure the steering would work either, the headstock is too far back and the forks would just hit the trellis frame and the radiator and the chain is broken too, just in front of the rear wheel! :smilies0943: Shame really. As a styling exercise it works. |
It's is a shame,as it looks quite nice. But it's when you have real good look at the picture you see the give aways!..
|
so apart from those few minor issues..... chain in two pieces, ktm swingarm, shock, exhaust, it doesn't steer.............
|
Pretty detailed observations on the ACTUAL test bike ;)

A good one, Macca. Few speculations around, MCN, visordown and the likes. Whatever it is I am already looking into this direction. Band loyal, I think. :D
