Not bought one yet, but came here looking for you to persuade me! I've an Africa twin which I love but I can't help thinking that the grass is greener......

The XT is a different kettle of fish really, from the Africa Twin that is. Of course, as this is an XT forum, you're going to get slightly bias reviews, but personally I can't see any value in me trying persuade you to swap a bike you love for another! ;)

However, the XT660Z Tenere (which is the only one I can honestly comment on from experience) is a great bike and worthy of consideration. Have you ridden one yet? If you haven't, then my advice would be - get a test ride. You'll soon work out, in your own mind, whether it's worth "upgrading" your Africa Twin! :047:

Trouble is they are as rare as hens teeth over here in Ireland, mate just picked up a 650 bmuu twin which is very nice

Hello mate, welcome along.

The only way to know for yourself if an XT is good for you is to ride one. As you say though if they are scarce where you are more than likely the ones that do come up for sale in those situations will probably have something wrong with them? If you have a solid bike & are happy with it I'd be inclined to keep it.
