rear brake problem

http://i1104.photobucket.com/albums/...psp5w5n0cz.jpg first ride out today sick doing wheels etc.....rear brake pushes pads out onto disc but doesn't return. The pads can be levered back with a screw driver fairly easily...what's my easiest way of sorting this please .. ? Had to ride home with front brakes only....I use the rear brake very little but you do miss it in traffic as a 'steadying ' aid. Steve

Check that you have not overfilled the resivoir. If there is too much fluid this can stop the pistons retracting.

http://i1104.photobucket.com/albums/...pshi7dqqlx.jpg Found the cause of my brake problem.....or rather Jo did!. I'd managed to bend the pad locating clip allowing the brake pad to hang down, it's obviously happened whilst man handling the back wheel in .

http://i1104.photobucket.com/albums/...pstccmfa6z.jpg A little damage to the hub as the pad /clip has taken a nick out of it.

http://i1104.photobucket.com/albums/...ps6mf2dvmk.jpg dropping the disc down is a neat way of getting acess without taking the back wheel out! Steve

Something I like to do mainly after washing the bike then parking it or riding in cruddy weather, is to gently with your thumbs on the piston area of the callipers push them in. They should slide easily. I find it clears the muck off a bit to stop it building up in the one spot as they don't actually move a lot in normal use. I haven't had a stuck brake yet touch wood. It is also a good indicator if a bit of lubrication is going to be needed. Hope this makes sense & helps.
