Distanzia vs Trailrider
Hello Everyone  Well my Tourances are wearing down, both fore & aft, they've been perfectly alright for me I have to add,not asking alot of them on asphalt & certainly hardly ever asking anything of them off road, but I think I'd like to try something other than the Tourance. I've not had any experience of the Distanzia at all,but I do like Avon tyres, more specifically, the Gripsters of yesteryear,I used to have them on both a Yam DT200R & TDR250 which I had years ago,I found these tyres really really good. Have extremely good memories of them in all conditions. So my thinking is that the more modern Distanzia & even more modern bang up to date Trailrider would do an extremely good job indeed on my Tenere. But which pair should I go for? The
Distanzia at a bit less cost or the bang up to date new
Trailrider ? Has anyone any experience of comparing them? Anyone tried the Trailrider at all? I have looked and there doesn't seem to be much comment on the
Trailrider, maybe that is because it's so new?
Any thought, comments & especially imparting your experiences of both these tyres will be very useful & greatly appreciated by me. I will be riding On-Road with only a few metres of unsealed hardcore surface to ride over. Many Thanks fellow Tenere Folks  |
Hi Stim, I can give you a very biased opinion..as I have used Distanzia tyres for years and swear by them, especially in the wet. They are great confidence boosting tyres and won't let you down . The rears tend to wear fairly quickly but it's a price worth paying for the reassurance of that grip. Steve

Just fitted a trailrider front to replace my worn distanzia. Distanzia are a great tyre. TR is the replacement for Distanzia that will be discontinued. Early days, but seems every bit as good so far. Will update when I know more. My rear Distanzia is still good for a while, but will fit a TR when the time comes XTX by the way.

I want to change from the Heidenaus K60Scouts to the Avon Trailriders in the spring. They got good reviews in handling(wet and dry), grip, durability&mileage so they seem good replacements for my Scouts. Now I heard there's also the new TrekRiders by Avon, which should be more offroad orientated then the TrailRiders? What do y'all recommend?
