well three years on, my conti trail attacks reached the legal limit after only 5000 miles.

So I went conservative and switched back to tourance which originally lasted a lot longer.

MAde sure the tyres were tubed (as per OEM) and since the change, the bike feels smoother not only over our ever worsening road surfaces but also less vibey on the engine and drivetrain front. My riding style is the same so the tyres could be absorbing a noticeable amount of the vibes the bike generates

I had the same observation. My TA is only half work but it's got to go. Think it'll be for Siracs this time.

Not sure if were talking bout the X or R but Avon Trailriders totally transformed the ride on my bike,R. Stick like **** to a blanket!

After a couple of months of riding I can deffinitely say thee tyres made an improvement to the bike's comfort: less vibes felt from the engine, better road bump absorbtion, less drive train slap (similar to having the cush mod effect).
Fuel consumption has remained unchanged.
I know they are not the best for road use only in terms of grip but I did my first trail ride on them and it was enjoyable.

MY conclusion takes into account that a new tyre with more tread depth feels more supple and comfy than one worn to the legal limit
