Meet up at Loomies on Sunday 10AM

Hi all, I really need to ride now, to heck with winter. Plan on going to Loomies this Sunday morning (24 Jan) and then a bit of a ride (hopefully) with greatescape. All welcome to meet up if you need to get rid of your cabin fever like me.

Jacques le Roux 20-01-16 20:50

For those further out, Loomies is a great biker stop near Winchester in Hampshire.

greatescape 20-01-16 21:40

Hi Jacque , see you there...hopefully not too cold! Steve

Jacques le Roux 21-01-16 09:28

Took the XT to Slough on Tuesday. Hour and a half of M4 and it was -3. Would have been ok but my summer gloves didn't hack it

aellis161 21-01-16 18:36

Hi guys.. There's a possibility I can get over that way Sunday! More worried about rain than cold tho!

Jacques le Roux 21-01-16 20:29

Will be great if you make it. Fingers crossed for dry morning. I'm quite hopeful. Loomies makes a good breakfast and off course good tea and coffee

Jacques le Roux 21-01-16 22:09

I think you're right about Sunday and too much rain. Lets rather do Saturday 2 pm at Loomies. No rain on Saturday according to BBC Weather!

aellis161 21-01-16 22:16

I'm working Saturday :( Let me know which day you go for in the end! cheers

Jacques le Roux 22-01-16 08:36

Sorry but looks like Saturday. Rainy on Sunday. But we will do it again the next good sunday

greatescape 22-01-16 11:07

Hi Jacque, if the weather's good on Saturday I'll have to work. ...needs must. I shall still head to Loomies Sunday morning as planned ...don't think the rain will amount to much , and my Distanzia tyres love the rain!

Jacques le Roux 22-01-16 11:25

Fine if you don't mind I'll do it Sunday rain or no rain. That way Aegis may be there too. The plus side is that the bike will be clean too. Cant wait to hear some more about some of your Ireland roads.

jo75 22-01-16 14:17

Your making me jealous now you lot!..would love too get along and meet some more forum members!..hope the weather is good for you!..

Jacques le Roux 22-01-16 17:51

Maybe we can pop round your place on our ride. Would be rude not to.

jo75 22-01-16 18:07

Will have a word with the wife and see if she has any surprise plans arranged..:yahoo:

greatescape 23-01-16 23:06

Hi Jacque , I have PM'd you...I'm afraid I have to work tomorrow , just been asked and can't afford not to!, this soggy weather has not been kind to my income of late. Sorry to be a let down I was looking forward to it. Steve

Jacques le Roux 23-01-16 23:31

No problem. Work comes first. We can always do it again. I'll still take a ride anyway. Let me know when you have a break on a weekend
Regards Jac

jo75 24-01-16 09:48

I shall try and come along next time if no one minds and I'm up too it back wise!..

jo75 24-01-16 10:01

Jacque, your little m4 trip , what was it like?..I'm going to Wales in July and proberly doing the full length of it from here to its end then A roads to cardigan so was just wandering what riding on the m4 was like..cheers jo

greatescape 24-01-16 11:39

Hi Jo, M4's fine just a bit tedious..it seems to go on forever. Going to Ireland every year I get on it at Newbury and stay on it till it ends. That's because it's a means to an end...catching the ferry in Pembroke. Coming back is better...I peel off as soon as I can and ride some great roads through Wiltshire cross country towards Winchester and home!. The Tenere is great on all roads..feels really planted on the motorway..no probs with sidewinder even over the Severn Bridge . Steve

Jacques le Roux 24-01-16 13:44

Hi all, was very very misty this morning. Not sure it was worth the trouble. At least I got to test the rain-proofness of some of my kit. Visibility over the hills was down to 20m, and pretty scary. Even had a grey range rover with no lights along the way. That made me slow down.
Jo, can say after quite a bit motorway (including A4) riding, its all about mindset. My tenere is dead happy cruising all day long at 70mph. But its not what its made for. So stick it in the slow lane and relax. As Steve said its a means to an end. Ignore the super bikes zipping past. They come to an abrupt stop when the black stuff runs out. The tenere however is perfect for filtering. So heavy traffic is never a problem. Nice and high and much narrower than most bikes. Its a whole day up to North Wales. Remember lots of stops. The roads in wales are amazing, especially the north. You will love it. Fingers crossed its dry. Prepare for rain storms and you can't go wrong.

jo75 24-01-16 15:55

Cheers for advice guys, jacque what's that on your front brake resivoir?.

greatescape 24-01-16 16:15

Hey Jacque , seeing your bike at Loomies I feel extra guilty!, I rode to work yesterday at 7.30 in similar mist and murk...it was horrible especially when you wear specs!. I also managed to hit a patch of ice and slid right to the other side of the road, luckily nothing coming the other way and by sheer luck (not skill!) stayed upright .. and Jo , what you can see on Jacque's brake reservoir is his custom navigation device. ...! Steve

Jacques le Roux 24-01-16 16:56

My secret weapon, how man discovered America. Yes a compass, simple yet perfect way to never get lost. No batteries needed, always work no matter where.

Jacques le Roux 24-01-16 17:06

Ready for the road back home. She is just so easy to ride and so dependable.

jo75 24-01-16 19:53

Steve, hitting that ice you came away a lucky man!..well done!..and what a cool idea with the compass jacque , I might use that myself!..great picture of your bike just wish mine could have been next to it!..

Jacques le Roux 24-01-16 20:03

I must admit I do lust for your new Ohlins fork springs. Would love to tame the nose dive on sudden braking. What made you choose the Ohlins above the Hyperpro?

jo75 25-01-16 07:03

I must admit it was Pleiades thread on here that made me choose,I was all for hyper pro until I read that they might not suit the heavier rider, but over the moon with the feel of the ohlins and not even ridding it yet , changes the whole position and feel when you sit on it, and relatively easy to fit..cheers jo
