The Super Ten is a stunning bike and I do not know how you can call it bland but that is taste I guess. I kept an MT 09 for less than a year as I could not really get to know it, wonderful engine and very capable bike but never really stirred any emotions. Back to the Super Ten:
1. I bought a blue one and it looks the part, with the electronic suspension etc. 2. The performance is amazing and on the motorway is soooooo comfy to ride with or without passenger or luggage. The cruise control makes for effortless progress. 3. Yes it is heavy at low speeds but you sit lower then on the XT660X so it is not imposing, as I had feared. Not a great city bike then. 4. Range is great, and I can cover 350km without needing to stop. 5. The only things I will change is the exhaust (I have bought an Arrow but have not yet fitted it), the rest is real quality. So for me it is anything but bland, it has real soul. I love it!!!!!! Simon |
Who rides 350km without stopping ??
|
Er, I do. I live in Roma and my lady lives in Amalfi which is about 300km south, and the Super Ten eats up the journey. My old XJR 1300 needed TWO stops!!!

Until recent years all manufacturers have produced is effective practical donkeys, even with 3 different sets of wheels,2 sets of brakes an Ohlins that has been been revalved twice my 955 Tiger is no more than above despite having 40,000 miles on the clock most of which has been done travelling Europe effective it is stimulating it ain't and the Tenere is no better.
BUT!!! The game has changed go ride either a 1290 KTM/Multistrada/XR1000 different ball game, character by the bucketload and engines that were in sports bikes only 3 years ago. |

There are many nice bikes but the Super Ten is amazing. I personally like it more than the GS1200 although hard core Beemer fans might not agree with me. Can be ridden off road hard and performance is fantastic for such heavy machine. As one ossie said in a review: "Feels like WR450 on Steroids". Take it to a twisty road somewhere in the alps and it will behave like sports bike, take a long motorway stretch like 350 km not stopping and will eat miles like hot cakes. Stabile in bends and twists even if you have to hit breaks hard in front of an obstacle. Very economical - better than the GS, not to mention the KTM. Just ticks the boxes. This is MHO. |
Thanks for the replies guys
Unfortunately the redundancy money wasn't as much as I'd hoped for so the S10 is to be just a pipe dream |
Bear, that is the main problem, they are really very expensive new and hold the value well second hand. But the bike is real quality so I think that you get what you pay for.....
