As Pleiades says, you tend.to be an Arai head or a Shoei head.....plus plenty of other makes of course . I have aa Arai tour x and love it , fits me perfectly. The old saying was if you have a 10 head wear a 10 helmet!. There are some good quality alternatives, Jacque le Roux of this forum bought a Bell adventure style helmet and likes it....you can also get some great coloured visors for the Bell . I believe also Red Bike John of this forum had a fix for the wobbly peak syndrome.....

With the Caberg tourmax you can remove the peak.

When you say a built in sun visor, do you mean a flip down hinged internal lense that is tinted, separate to the peak on the top/outside? If so, I tried a few of these on recently and I liked the idea of this as carrying sunglasses can be an irritation. Your experience is interesting to me and may be the tipping point to getting one of these types of helmets. There happen to be several on the market. |
thanks arjen. your info is very helpful as the tourmax is on my short list to try.
I have also come across caberg xtrac (cheaper than tourmax but most probable it comes with some deficiencies!) but it is a hell of a job to try either one unless ordered on line and returned if not suitable |
The helmet indeed has a built in flip down tinted/dark sunvisor. You can put it up and down with a slider on top of the helmet.
And the helmet also has a Pinlock visor which is an absolute must have! |
