Hi Jason, others on this forum far better equipped to advise you than me, but....the mods I did on my Tenere that transformed it were the Kev mod, the O2 controller, the throttle mod, (free!, and brilliant), and a 46 tooth rear sprocket. All jerry throttle gone and much nicer to ride!. Steve

Steve has basically hit the nail on the head sort the fuelling and make the twist grip less sensitive. All I would add is checking/sorting the final drive (chain, sprockets and cush drive).

Its the simple things that make the most difference Before attempting any of the mods suggested, make sure your bike is properly serviced, with a clean air filter, decent correctly gapped spark plug, the idle speed is correctly adjusted to 1400-1500rpm, the cush drive rubbers are in intact and free from excessive play and the chain has the correct slack and is (along with the sprockets) in good condition.

Heres where to look for information about the mods

Yes, as Pleiades says sort the cush drive.... it took me a while to suss the perfect drive chain tension for mine, but worth getting spot on . Every bike feels so much better with this done. Enjoy your bike! Steve

jasonsean484 11-12-15 19:33

will do steve , is that to the book spec or did you find it touch tighter or slacker the chain ? had a nice little nip out today through the country side only about 30 mile , cold but dry , give rain all weekend :hmh:

Dahlba 11-12-15 19:53

i have my chain a bit tighter then book spec. but i only ride on asphalt. very good roads in sweden. but if you want to drive a bit ofroad, give it a bit more slak

jasonsean484 11-12-15 22:02

It definitely shouldnt be half full of oil if its the standard filter throw it away and fit a new one. Its most likely caused by over filling the motor with oil, before you start the engine there should not be any oil showing on the dip stick when it has the correct amount of oil in it. To check the oil level correctly give the bike a 10 minute run stop the engine, and immediately check the level on the dip stick it should show between the marks.
