XTR oil quantity...?
 

Servicing the bike after my trip...

Drained all the oil and removed the oil filter.

Left overnight to drain...

Service manual says to use 2.6L with a change over oil filter.. total of 2.9L from new...

Did the usual .. Add 1.9.... Run engine for 30 secs... Add another 1 litre.. That's already 2.9 total...

I STILL can't see the oil on the oil mark of the filler cap...?

How much bloody oil do I need to keep adding?

I've already put in the total qty of 2.9L

Any advise please?

run the motor for a few minutes / let rest for a few minutes
check oil on stick....add oil as needed... DONE...

With filter change mine seems to take just over 3 liters....

It ended up taking about 3.3L in the end...

Now it's showing on the filler stick.

Don't know why the service manual says 2.9L...?

I'm afraid you've overfilled your bike. Mine takes 2.8L max if it's drained properly, and I don't even bother checking the oil until after a ride. Especially don't run it on the sidestand, but vertically. Otherwise you get an incorrect low reading.

Every oil-in-the-frame bike I've owned has been the same. No good trying to check oil level until after a ride, wait a few minutes, then check.
