Auxiliary plugs ???

Can anyone tell me if there are any auxiliary power sockets/plugs on the tenere ??

I have a 3 switched auxiliary socket taken off my Super Tenere that ideally I'd like to just plugs straight in to one.

No, there aren't any!

Easiest way to power is to use the spare connector which lies behind the plastic panel beneath the clocks. You will need to cut of the black existing connector (as the male end is unobtainium) and fit a more readily available type (I used a standard 2-way snap connector which cost about 50p as you can see in the picture), or use spade connectors, solder joint etc. Always fit a suitably rated inline fuse to whatever you are connecting here.

FYI it is on the sidelight circuit so will be live only when the ignition is on or the key is in the "P" position.

This is what I have,

So can I just change the connector it currently has to match the one behind the clocks ???

Please excuse my electrical ignorance.

That looks very much like something that would have been connected direct to the battery? By the diameter of the orange +ve cable and the black -ve cable (and the ring terminals) it looks like the setup was design to carry way more load than the connector behind the dash would ever be able to safely provide. The dash connector is good for up to 7.5A, but even then that's pushing it. 5A would be a safer bet.

I think you would be best connecting that lot up directly to the battery if you're going to use it on the Z. It would be the safest option. Mind you what does it all do??

Just out of interest, what is the rating of the fuse in the holder on the orange wire?

It is indeed meant to fire straight on to the battery. It's made by a company called eastern Beaver in the US. The fuse on the orange cable is a 30a and the three black connectors can just be hooked straight from whatever you wish i.e. sat nav/heated grips/etc etc.

Can I just fire it straight on to the battery and basically ignore the official white connector that's shown ??

as seen in the picture, it's already connected to a relay and inline fuse.

You've got all the gear you need there. Just connect the two ring terminals up to the battery.

BTW the alternator on the Z will not cope with an additional 30A draw! Of course you are highly unlikely to be using all the sockets and anything like that in normal use, but to be on the safe side, I would change the fuse that's on the orange wire to a 15A. This will be more than amble for most heated kit, chargers, satnav etc. and save you inadvertantly frying the stator, reg/rec unit or starting a fire! ;)

So in summary, ignore the white connector and hook up to battery just using the orange and black cables, change 30a for 15a and I " should" be able to run, sat nav/heated grips and spot lights through the three black connectors fitted .

Have I got that right sir ??
