What to do with your luggage

Next weekend will be my first trip to and around Europe (France, Switzerland) and I am not sure what you seasoned adventurers do with you luggage when you want to explore wherever you are on foot. Specifically those of you with soft luggage.

Do (can) you just park your bike and head off, is it safe?
Do you worry about theft of your luggage and if so, what do you normally do with it?

My plan was to get to wherever I will be camping and leave it all there and then go exploring but sometimes you would get to a spot that is just too far away from your destination to return without you stuff.

I had cable locks to "secure" the bags.
You can also use locks to prevent from easy opening, depending on your soft luggage.

But in general that is the tradeoff with soft luggage. Just park in crowded place

Take a look at this video. I believe these are awesome panniers, thou outside of my budget. I can get something locally made in Brazil for a much lower value, somewhat basic but does the thing if you are not hardcore.
Anyway, here is a good tip about the cable lock you could use there

Try Pacsafe products.

http://www.pacsafe.com/travel-access...rotectors.html

They do exomesh covers for your bags that you can padlock to someting secure. they do the exomesh and exomesh/bag packages.

I used an exomesh over a rollbag on the back of my Tenere, no problems and always felt happy to leave unattended.

Plenty of UK stockists to be found on the net.
