What Hex Tools ?
 

Im thinking to buy a few decent separate hex tools instead of a cheap set but im not sure what type or size i need, if someone would let me know the sizes that i need and maybe a decent brand would be great. Thank you

As Pepsi says , the 14mm hex is a must for the front axle.....I have wasted half of this morning trying to get one!. there's a big Allen key in the Yamaha toolkit that doesn't appear to fit anything. .? Steve

That Allen key in the tool kit is for the earlier fork preload adjusters, not much use to you as you have the later ones that stick up.

The big Allen key is for adjusting the fork preload on pre-2012 bikes. It is a mystery why Yamaha still include it in the tool kit on the later models with raised screw and locknut adjusters? You don't need it, so increase your power to weight ratio by leaving it in the garage! ;)

Unfortunately mine didint have one at all so im trying to put one together for an emergency. As my RAC membership expired and not sure if its worth to renew it.

I carry allen keys at all times,but the long ones...in my experience you'll be better off with a longs ones that are needed if e.g. you need to take the tank off for what ever reason....long ones are handier to reach those hidden places where the shorter ones won't

I have a long series 14 mm Allen key in my tool kit for the front wheel. The stepped bit mentioned earlier may not be up to the job being only 10 mm at the smallest end. A bit of corrosion and a tight axel take some shifting, with the 14mm long series allen key you could even stand on it if its really tight.:eusa_eh:
