Cush drive rubbers 1800 miles?
Had to get a new tube fitted yesterday after a puncture & on putting the sprocket carrier back on the wheel we found a fair bit of play.
I had new (genuine) cush rubbers fitted only 1800 miles ago, I don't use the Tenere hard or off road. Is this normal? I know they don't seem to last as long as you'd hope, but 1800 miles?? Apart from the used innertube "bodge" is there anything else I can do to prolong their life? |
That sounds about normal, well for me anyway. I always used to pack them out when I changed the rear tyre, then replace them the next. So effectively they lasted two rear tyres worth of mileage - anywhere between 5000 and 7500 miles on average.
Best thing you can do is swap them for some polyurethane ones which can be obtained from Hunday on this forum. I have these now and they're still as good as they day they were installed 10K+ miles ago. http://www.xt660.com/showthread.php?t=21410 You could also do the bearing mod too, but as yet I personally haven't found that necessary to do. |

OEM again it is then. Thanks anyway, if the poly ones were available elsewhere online somewhere I'd have ordered them in an instant. |
don't go to yamaha as they will rip you off go to wemoto they do the standard ones but a lot cheaper
