Well, it has been a while since I updated this post.
The gastank kept spilling and in august I went back again to the dealer. Bike was there for two weeks and they said it was fixed. Back home after pick up and after an hour being parked out front, ... still drippin' AAAAH. How could the've not seen that I wondered... So, I wrote a letter to Yamaha Motor Netherlands with a complaint about the bike and the dealer. Yamaha responded very correct and they offered to take the bike in for a closer look by themselves. They also made possible I switched for another dealer. With transport and all, it took them almost a month to figure out nothing was wrong..... What they did change was the fillercap to be sure. They realy had a go on it I am sure. but otherwise everything was checked, bike all around. So I picked it up. First day the bike was back in my yard, you guess it; dripping! So I've called the case-mechanic straight away and told him this. He was in aw and didn't know what to say. A 1000 appologies and again the offer to take my bike in. This time I got a demo XT660Za (explorer) for the time being. NOW it gets realy weird: The demo bike was parked at the same spot in my yard, and yeah.... IT LEAKED!!!! 1600 km old... Same hose, same leak. F#ck! So, I took pictures and send them to Yamaha where they were investigating my bike. The responded that my bike hadn't dripped a drop since it was there and that they almost couldn't believe the fact the demo was also leaking at my yard. They didn't know what hit them. So, now what... Now after again 2 weeks they've concluded there is nothing wrong with my bike, OR the demo XT. It seems that where and how I park the bike(s) in my yard, in the sun, an exceptional situation is created where the breathingsystem spills more than it should without being anything wrong with it... So, an XT660Za parked on the centrestand can, under the right (or wrong) conditions, spill gas from the breatherhose. Due to the breathersystem and pressure by warming up it can but only in 1:100000 cases orso.... But HEY! I still LOVE my XT and frankly I am glad it is back. (sorry for my English) |
Amazing!
