Chorley Yamaha
Went in to my local dealership yesterday, 'Chorley Yamaha' to enquire about what sort of price I could get trading in my 58 plate XTX. To kick things off nobody even surfaced into the shop floor for about ten minutes despite numerous staff members seeing me in there.
Once somebody did trouble themselves to ask if I was okay I told them why I was there and asked if they would be able to give me an estimated price on my bike. Reluctantly he came out to take a look at it and asked all the usual questions. He also asked how much I paid for the bike which I found completely irrelevant. After flicking through some papers he came up with a price of 2000 which I consider an insult but fully expected from them. So then I asked about how to go about organising a test ride if I did want to buy from there (they have a nice 690 prestige and MT09 which I WAS genuinely interested in). The response I got was 'Look mate we don't just do test rides for someone who just wants to take it for a joy ride and that's what it sounds like you want to do.' So with that I decided that for the foreseeable future and until they learn to respect their customers I shall not, and will strongly discourage anybody else from spending their money there! |
If/when yer get a new bike... ride it back to the shop
ask to see the manager/owner... Show him how much money the salesman cost him... . |

Probably won't get anything for your trouble, BUT if people took the trouble to complain about dealers to the manufacturers, as the letters piled up, they might start to take notice. |
I have no comments, well I have but they are all bad.

I have written to both Yamaha UK and the dealership in question today. Actually had a great response from the GM of the dealership which was reassuring. Not heard back from Yam UK yet. Will post once I've heard back. |

I had a simliar experience with them a couple of years ago when lookinh for my XT. No interest whatsoever from showroom staff in talking to me so I walked out after about 15 minutes. How they are still in business I'll never know!!!!

Hiya,
I have bought 6 or 7 bikes cant remember exact from Kieth Dixon Blackburn not so far from Chorley Yam in striking distance any way. Kieth and Ian brilliant to deal with you can even have a brew in the far corner kettle milk etc. You can either have it for nothing or donate to future brewing tackle. He is also a yam main dealer I have been happy the number of bikes I have bought from him says it all. In fact I was taking off the rear wheel this week my 14mm socket missing sods law I went all around my area looking to buy another without success. I rang Keith to see if he had any in stock to which he replied no but pop on you can borrow ours. But if you want to buy one he gave me name and address of the dealer he buys off. This was next town to me went down he had one in stock result. Ranger6 |

chorley yamaha
Hi I got my tenere from them last september you are right they are very laid back in there atitude you could walk around the shop for hours! You have to go over and collar them! However i was served by a guy called richard who had a totaly disinterested attitude at first impression but his service is first class, if he says he is going to do something it will be done he also went out of his way to point me in the direction of another dealer who sold different helmets and said pick one of theirs and then ask them to give me a call and I will give sort a good price out for you. He was as good as his word I think he has transfered to their wigan branch now. if you have bought a bike from them they do try to give a good service.:smilies0375:

They upset me too
I was looking for a tenere back in 2013, Chorley yam were advertising that they had several new ones at a specific price, when I rang them they were unable to confirm or deny that they had any new bikes ! But insisted I call in to see them instead. Bloody strange going on. After a few call and having them talk to me in an arrogant manner I gave up, contacted Yamaha UK who said they would follow up, but they never got back to me either. I ended up going to cmc in Chester and buying a new tenere from them at the price quoted by Chorley in their advert but who sadly gave me such verbal diorhea that I wouldn't buy from them even if they did have what I wanted.

Sounds about right

I sent a quick email to Chorley Yamaha as well and was offered to go in to speak to the General Manager to see if he could help, but as you can understand by this point I had lost all interest in spending my money there! |
Ive never had any dealings with chorley yam but wigan yam (same firm) are very good to deal with and id gladly put my name to them.
Great sales and very good after sales service too. |
