Please correct me if I'm wrong, this is the way it goes:

Stage 1 K&N = Simple swap from stock

Stage 1 K&N & Removing snorkel = As above + CO Settings mess around

Stage 1 K&N & Removing snorkel & Stage 2 DNA = Buy Kev's Mod

That's pretty much the way it works.

You can of course fit a Kev mod with any of the above three permutations if you wanted to. Decreasing the air/fuel ratio with a fuelling mod will make the most of the extra air available from the filters.

In fact, a perfectly standard XT will benefit from a richer (decreased) A/F ratio.

Just remember that messing about with the CO in the dash will only affect the fuelling at very small throttle openings (<2%). It won't make any difference on a wide open throttle, or for that matter at say 30-60% throttle where your likely to spend most of the time.

Okay, Thank you for the reply mate!

All I have at the moment is the K&N Stage 1

But seeing as I want to remove the snorkel I will purchase Kev's Mod? And maybe just leave the CO Settings alone?

Can anyone point me in the direction to purchase Kev's Mod, I am UK Based?

May eventually get the DNA Stage 2 but we'll see how it goes

Thank you's

Cheers Fella's !

I have messaged Kev asking what's what and saying my specs :blob3:

I really don't know much but isn't it just a variable resistor for a few bob and tuning it yourself knowing the co info and specs which you can find online?
Altering the air signal to richen up the mixture on original map

:wav:

I do just want whats best for the bike, just need a point to what :happy7:

Mister, anyone can assemble a Kev mod given the correct resistors, the pot and the wiring. Kev did the home work and if you look online somewhere you will probably find similar.

Yet the product you will buy form Kev is guaranteed to work because it has been tried and tested and perfected over the last 9 years of this forum being established. If you don't wish to buy Kev's one its ok we don't mind. But we don't want people to rubbish his efforts in helping the community with his mechanical skill, it's not just fueling mods that Kev has up his sleeves.
He is a top engineer foreman for Volkswagen Australia, a top man that is often summoned all over the country among Volkswagen training camps to host meetings and seminars. What he doesn't know about motors ain't worth knowing.

Cheers.

You're alright lad, don't worry about it, thing is not everyone knows the fabric of Kev and sometime it's worth reminding the newcomers.

Cheers :sign4:
