TKC80 front mitas CO2 rear?
 

I'm enjoying the E07's but i'm looking for something more confidence inspiring in the dirt, i have a spare TKC front sitting in the shed at the moment and was thinking of pairing it with a CO2, has anyone else tried this before?

this is only a stop gap to use up the TKC. before moving onto a different set.

E09 would be better match for TKC up front.
You will eat 3 C02s before you toast a front TKC. I've got 1200 miles from rear C02 which is not bad for what it is.

C21 front C02 rear - now you are talking and you can chase those 450s :)

how do the 21's behave on the road? i do more tarmac than trail.

my origanal plan is to use up the tkc them move on to either E09's or army specials.

I've used the E09 rear and TKC80 front combo for a couple of years. Main reason is that they seem pretty decent on tarmac and handle most 'dry' off road fairly well. That said, in the mud and on wet trails the TKC80 front is almost useless (in my hands anyway!) so I tend to adjust my riding accordingly. The rear E09 seems to do quite well though and I am happy to keep buying them. I'm tempted to change the front to an army special over the winter.

I took the tenere for a weekend off road a few weeks ago in wales. It was wet and a little muddy in places, but nothing too bad. On the first trail I forgot I had the TKC80 on and nearly lost the front when the mud got a bit deeper, so I just took a little more care for the rest of the ride when hitting the mud.

I've used this tyre combo on loads of trails over the last couple of years and accept that they are compromise tyres compared to more off road or on road orientated, but they'll take you where you want to go.

Well ... not very good ;). I usually ride 20-30 miles each way to any offroad and I learned to live with them but if you are doing any riding other than getting to trails then C21 is probably bad idea and so is C02.

I agree with Al on the TKC front in mud... yes it's doable but little fun.

My favourite semi aggressive combo is Pirelli MT21 front and E09 rear. Good on the road, good in the dry offroad, acceptable on wet trails. They wear at the similar rate too. Off road, MT21 seems to be a bit better than TKC , I find them similar on pavement.

It must also be said that my completely shot set of C21/C02 was still working better in the bog than any of the tyres mentioned above when new...

Cheers guys, for now then i think i'll pop a E09 on when i come to do it, be good to get a sample to see if the E09 set is worth going for on the next change.
