Chains for XTX
Hey I seem to be going through chains .... Getting about just under a year out of them (Stardard Yamaha chain) lol I do a lot of commuting to work and charging around at the weekend
I was wondering anyone any tips for a longer life chain something like a heavy duty Z or X ring ? Cheers in advance |
You think you've got problems!. I've just trashed a Metzeler Sahara 3 in 3K miles!:rant2:

I got just over 23000 miles out of the original chain on the Z! |
what milage are you getting?
even with a Scott oiler I was still only getting around 12k or so. that was commuting and weekend fun. they are know for being hard on chains. keep them oiled, adjusted and the Cush drive rubbers in good nick and it should last longer |
Yeah think I'm getting a good lot out of them and try to keep them well oiled .... Was thinking about using a heavier chain and getting a scottoiler
Dam all that pulling power lol :P |

back on topic...Chains I have 40,000km on my XTR & the 2nd chain is near replacement now.... So getting around 20,000k from a chain/sprockets.. 1st was what Yamaha put on , 2nd is a RK 520 O-ring.. |
Recommended after market chains & sprockets for the XT's are Renthal sprockets and Tsubaki gold (not real gold) chains
For XTX / XTR http://www.bandcexpress.co.uk/shop/t...%5E+XT660R.htm For XT660Z Tenere http://www.bandcexpress.co.uk/shop/t...00Z+Tenere.htm Money well spent and guaranteed to last over 4 times the life of OEM drive kits. http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r...0/DSC01716.jpg http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r...0/DSC01717.jpg http://www.racesparesuk.com/wp-conte...PRO-SERIES.jpg |
