braided brake lines.?
Does anyone know where I can get a slightly longer upper brake line , it's a bit too tight with bar risers and hand guards. I obviously need one with the correct end fittings. Any advice appreciated! Steve

Hi Steve, I would also be keen to know the answer to this also, did you get my message about the gloves?..Cheers jo..

hi you can usually go to a well sorted workshop and they will have braided tubes, banjo and can press whatever length you want.

Speak to HEL
http://www.helperformance.com/ and ask them.

Your best options are: 1) HEL (as mentioned). Their standard "race" setup for the Ten, which has two separate lines running one to each caliper from the master cylinder, actually has plenty of slack to deal with moderate risers and handguards. The separate lines (without the rigid link) also give you a bit more flexibility in routing too. http://www.helperformance.com/hel-brake-lines-for-yamaha-xt660-z-tenere-2008-2010.html 2) Venhill. They make custom length hoses, but will work out more pricey than the above. http://www.venhill.co.uk/ |
Thanks guys for the advice Steve

As Pleiades says, the standard race lines fit easily, even with the Renthal High Bars on. |
That's great...I phoned Wemoto today and they suggested the 'race' set up, but I didn't realise it was 2 separate lines , which as you say will give the slack I need. Another problem solved by xt660.com!! Steve

Another big vote for xt660.com, another problem solved by advice from others , i know it was Steve's thread but one i was meaning to ask..thanks everyone..

Aw I get that warm and fuzzy feeling; I was the lucky person to send my OE lines off to HEL for them to use as pattern to make the first set, which are still doing great service after 6 years.

Installing braided brake hoses
Hi. Can anybody offer some advice on fitting the braided brake lines? I've purchased the race set up and just wondering how people run them from the bars down to the calipers. Mine seem to have an annoying twist in them which however I ran them I couldn't get rid of! Also where do you fix them down the fork so they don't rub / catch anywhere. Thanks in advance!
