Funnily enough, the exact same thing happened to me when fitting my Holan headlight guard!!

I was very careful and after refitting did not force the fixing screw in, otherwise it would just have pushed the captive nut out again. l was able to engage all the fixing screws in the threads and tighten them just by my fingers before finally tightening them all down slowly and without pushing on the screw head.

Was there a choice of colour on the carry rack or just black, as the ones I saw on Holans site were silver?

Thanks Pleiades. ...and hi Desert Racer, I'm a bit peeved about the rack, took 3 weeks to arrive , should have been silver and the bolts are too short. ... Steve

I got replacement grommets with the screws I bought (ebay)as my plastic screws were not holding up well. Too late now as you've don't the job but pretty sure you can replace the grommets just by pushing them through from the front with a bit of water and detergent to assist if needed.

Did the rack come with spacers?? My BB rack has two short spacers for the front and two long spacers for the rear to give it a the flat profile despite the steps.

Thanks Macca, yes, came with short and long spacers..but bolts two short. Speaking to Gabe at Zen Overland to see if he can make a rack a little wider, but not overwhelming the lines of the bike. Depends how much it will cost! Steve
