Plastidip

Dear new people :D

I am a member of this forum and have to admit, i've learned a lot about the xt660x, but there is still a lot more to learn.

I have a question on plastidip, where i've seen a guy on the forum who has used it on his bike.

The panels I have now on my xt660x are back, I have removed the stickers and I have cleaned them very well. The plastics and the plastidip are in the room with a normal temperature of 21 celcius degrees.

Before painting the panels, I would like to know if i have forgotten anything or if you guys have any tips / tricks before I go paint the panels (spray actually :P).

The colour I will spray is mat black (the panels are now back as well).

Thanks in advance,

Arnoud

Hi,

I did it on my bike to.
Only my problem was that there were little spots from the sticker.
So when i applied the plastidip i saw where the stickers were before.
i dont know how many lays i did anymore, but try to do it equal for no color diffrences.

Try first one small panel to look how it goes.

Go over the area to be painted with white spirit and a rag to remove all traces of grease and adhesive.

It might look perfectly clean and ready to paint, but even the smoothest surface to the naked eye is not flat and the microscopic pits will harbour grease and the remains of sticker adhesive. The white spirit will act as a gentle solvent and the grease/adhesive will dissolve in it and come away on the rag.

I would suggest repeating this process a couple of times until there is no grease left. The remaining white spirit will evaporate. It will not harm you paintwork or plastics - just try and avoid long contact with rubber components.
