Overland and Adventure day - Ace Cafe this Sunday!

http://www.ace-cafe-london.com/event...5+00%3A00%3A00

Come on guys, we have the BEST adventure bike in the business. Let's get some more 660s there.

Say hello if you're coming along.

greatescape 21-03-15 17:47

Hi Weave, I'm heading there tomorrow, I'll look out for you! ! Steve

Jacques le Roux 22-03-15 08:56

Have a great day guys. So wish I could be there today

Pleiades 22-03-15 09:05

I had every intention of going but I have a nasty case of man flu! The quantity of fluid leaking from my nose at the moment makes anything more than a 5 minute ride a rather messy experience.

Have fun if you're going and represent the XT with pride. Just don't ride into the car park standing on your pegs like all the GS boys do - we're classier than than that! ;)

WeaveMcQuilt 22-03-15 18:18

Well, we had Steve (me), Steve (great escape), and several other filthy well-ridden Tnr's, along with a couple of brand new ones!

An RTW Ten ridden by Jonathan Yates http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/boo...n-6-continents

A couple of guys off to Mongolia and back on their Tnrs this summer.

However, far too many KTMs and GSs for my liking!

I'll be off to Bolton in a couple of weeks for a go on the GP450, and meeting up with loads of other ABR, HUBB members.

Nobody else from XT660 showed up (I asked everyone!)
Sorry I didn't get to meet you this time, Pleiades.

See you in Wales!

lolgeoff 22-03-15 19:55

Saw someone on a white Ten with a high mudguard outside the Oakdene this morning, as I waived a few mates off on their way to the Ace.

Jacques le Roux 22-03-15 20:09

Nice one stevex2

At the Ace

Hi Pleiades, sorry your not well...I won't be cruel and say you missed a good day. ..next time! I was mighty impressed how my Ten handled the A3 and London traffic, although the Tourance didn't like the studded surface of Hammersmith Bridge! It was good to meet Weave (Steve ) and see (and hear!) what people had done to their Tenere's. I counted 12 Ten's. .pretty good! Steve

Sorry I couldn't make it guys. Would have been good to put a few faces to names. Will have to wait till Wales, or the next Adventure Day at the Ace...

greatescape 22-03-15 21:25

http://i1379.photobucket.com/albums/...ps9znnh59g.jpg Hi Pleiades, I was a bit embarrassed at how clean and shiny my Tenere was today as I was parked next to this BMW.....it's usually shiny Beemers muddy Ten's! Steve

stampy 22-03-15 21:57

Ace Cafe

It was good to meet so many Tenere chaps at ace, agree there are far too many BMW/KTM BOYZ - all the sensible chat was with the Tenere lads. It was a while ago I completed the RTW (and thanks for the plug earlier), events like Sunday's and chats with the chaps heading off to Mongolia has got me thinking......a loop of Africa is still outstanding in my list of things to do..... What next?! Afternoons in the office v Africa?

Desert Racer 24-03-15 03:45

Sounded like it was a great meet up would of loved to have gone but I probably unfortunately couldn't be much further away.

I married a girl from Zimbabwe, it would be fantastic to see it from two wheels. I spent a bit of time there (travelling by car though ) visiting the Vic Falls,White Water Rafting the Zambezi, Zimbabwe Ruins and various National Parks. I've never had such a 'hair standing on the back of my neck' moment as spending a night overlooking a watering hole when a Lions roar goes off close by ( obviously not getting much sleep from insect noise either ) followed by an absolute deafening silence. The other big eye opener was the size of a Hyena in real life that took a stroll through the camp. those things are HUGE.
The missus always threatened to show me Cape Town but we haven't made it there yet, Botswana would be nice to. I think it could lead to a divorce if I backed the bike up & took of to her home land without her....

Damn I gonna miss her...

Jacques le Roux 24-03-15 22:48

Now that looks familiar. Are you traveling with the whole house!

See you in Wales!

Hey guys.
Just joined the forum. What a great resource and bunch of people.
I'm one of the chaps off to Mongolia in June who was up at the ace cafe. My bike is in the second picture, the black ten at the back with the red tape on the pannier. And my mate Stu has the blue ten at the front.
Great to meet guys who love their biks as much as we do and talk a bit of shop. Picked up a few useful gems of info already.

Hope to be posting more soon.

Cheers. Oli.
