lap of Scotland
Traveling to UK in September and have a free week. I know you said you don't want A roads, but please don't discount the A93, Blairgowrie to Braemar and Ballater to Stonehaven will take you up through Scotland and the Cairngorms. Fantastic road.
Also, you could get lost between Aberdeen and Inverness for days! Royal Deeside, the whisky trail... You'll have a great time! |

Saying this to a Australian is a bit odd, but the Highlands are bigger than you would think, the roads meander and speed is difficult to maintain. Plan to average 40mph through the day (excluding stops) and you'll be about right. Bring wet weather clothing...... mid September is often stormy in the Highlands, I go up there every year and out of the last 6 or so I've had one trip without a storm. |
