baffle in or out

Out - seams to have loads more bottom end grunt . Sounds good but way too loud stealth has gone right out the window . IN- seam to have a odd side effect of making the gears feel sloppy.how can this be or is that's just a coincidence. Am thinking maybe I need a lesser baffle . Don't know whether to shorten the baffle .or drill it .which would be the best way of tuning the exhaust

How does the baffle look like? There are often two versions, one that is just a more narrow end pipe and the other that is almost closed with just a few holes in it.

Here is a picture of my two different versions, yours could be similiar.

The one on the right is the worst kind, it makes the bike run bad and some times even worse than the original silencers (in worst case scenario it will burn away all insulation in the silencer because of the heat build up).
The one on the left is just a pipe with a smaller diameter but it actually reduces the sound level by several decibels. And it does not hinder performance in a big way.

Mine is the open type .with sections bent in to the tube

My Z (with Exan 2-1) performs better with the baffle in, both on the road and on the dyno. The business end of the baffle looks like this...

Not too loud and not as restrictive as the "pepperpot" type dB killers.
