Whilst I'm typing I think it will be a good idea if any of the attendees have an idea of problems that they need to discuss or servicing problems that they might like to address.
I for one am more than prepared to give a demonstration of how to remove the back tyre, for instance!
.

If you could and there is time/interest/coordination in the possible drunken activity's that may take place, would someone be able to take a video of any demonstrations please? Just for the benefit of us that unfortunately are unable to attend. I for one would be keen to see a tyre removal. Cheers :partyondude:

Well guys I'm back from Wales (and Ireland)

Spent two days on the road doing the rideout. That's now done.

We have a good area set aside for us at Platts Farm and I've arranged for braziers for the night time.
I will be contacting the pub with numbers for an evening meal on the Saturday if anyone would like.
Similarly I have been in touch with a local tea shop which will do breakfasts.
.............and Eric Jones's cafe who will be open for the lunchtime stop.

Now, I have done this route twice and some of the roads I already knew so I know what to expect.

The roads are gritty with lots of loose grit down the middle, they will be narrow, could be covered in moss, animal droppings, leaves, lichen and the like. The pace will be slow, please take it easy and enjoy the views.
There are a lot of new born sheep around and if you see a small sheep by itself, it will run to it's mother. The mother sheep will run away and the baby will follow. Bear this in mind if you see a solitary baby sheep.
Most of the small tracks have blind bends, don't try to keep up with the person in front. I intend to keep a safe pace, just ride your own ride. At any junction the person immediately behind me will stop and indicate to the others which way to go. That person will wait until the back marker arrives and take off in front of the back marker.

There will be loads of opportunities to stop and take in the views which today were spectacular. We can take as much time as we like to do this.

The route is actually 100 miles and takes a circuitous route around Mount Snowdon which will come into views at different times.
Obviously there will be other traffic on the roads but where we will be is used by mountain bikes, again be aware.

On the rideout if anyone is uncomfortable with the route, please bring this to my attention and I can give alternative routes to meeting points.

I will start another thread for meals at the pub.
In the village within 2 mins walking distance from the pub are a Chinese, Indian takeaways and a fish / chip shop.
Up the road is a Co-op, Spar and two more pubs!

Keep watching the forum for more updates.

Cheers Steve

Well done Steve.
Supermarkets are located in Bangor and Llandudno.

Looking forward to the event now.
Hope the weather is kind to us!

Hi Steve, sounds grand, so looking forward to seeing new vistas.
Will there be a safe place to leave our luggage in the camp, or will we have to do the ride fully loaded.
Your meal suggestions means we don't have to lug cooking bits - good.

The campsite is very quiet and remote to the village. You can only access the area where we will camp through the farm drive. I for one willk be leaving all of my camping gear at the site and just leaving my panniers on, only because I carry tyres, first aid kit and repair stuff with me. I will also have my tank bag on with my valuables.
If ayone wants to leave aything at the farm, I am sure that I will be able to arrange with Sam to get it securely locked up.
I would only suggest bringing along tea / coffee making equipment as everything else can be sourced locally. If you want to travel light just bring your own mug, I will have my petrol burner on the go most of the time and you are welcome to use it.
Literally 30 seconds around the corner from the site entrance is a small cafe. I have been in touch with the proprietress and she will be able to cook breakfasts or I can arrange for bacon butties, or alternatively I will be doing my usual of getting my frying pan out and cooking anything that can be eaten. We can raid the local shops for milk, bacon and breadcakes / barms / baps etc!

Hope this answers your questions.

Cheers Steve.
