Salisbury plain

Hi,

Thinking of taking a trip around Salisbury Plain between Christmas and New year.
Anyone have any advice, best trails, areas to stay away from etc??
Cheers

On 28th there is a MTB race going on around there from Erlestoke, if you see a knackered beardy idiot near the pointy end, that'll be me ;-)

I was there the weekend of the 29th November - very wet, very muddy, very slippery.

I had worn Trelleborgs coupled with a lack of talent and struggled. Especially on the treacherous slimy chalk base sections.

After a hard climb "off piste" I decided to call it a day before I damaged something - the Ten had been on its side five times by then.

I was with friends on a KTM EXC and Kawa KDXs - the XT is a lot heavier in comparison. I was exhausted by the time I got onto one of the military service roads!

Click HERE for a Google Map link to the point I got to before giving up. (from the EXIF data in the photo.) We had started from Devizes.

Unfortunately I didn't take any photos of the trails! Just where we rested.

Middle aged bloke not as fit as he thought. Non-Shock.
