What work is involved in 30k service
Hello chaps
Just wondering what sort of work is involved in the 30,000 mile service ? Mite try and undertake some of the easy stuff myself and to save a little :P Cheers once more you lovely bunch :P |
I've had a quick look and looks like, valves, plug, fluids and filters.
Should be easy enough (not had to do a big service yet) i'd say a few hrs work. do the valves first as you'll want the engine stone cold for that job. |
Swingarm pivot is the biggie at 30K.
Other than oil/oil filter/plug/air filter and standard checks, you'll need to question when the coolant and brake fluid was last changed? Brake fluid should be every 2 years, coolant every 3 years (regardless of miles). Also, do you know when the headraces and suspension linkage (every 12K) were last attended to? Have you any idea when the valves (every 12K) were last checked? If you are unsure of the answers to these questions, then get it done. Additionally the rubber brake hoses should have been replaced at 4 years, swap them out for Hel or Goodridge. By 30K, if you don't know when the forks were last looked at, I'd be tempted to drain and replace the fork oil. This is not mentioned on the service schedule specifically. Personally, I consider the 30K service as a "do absolutely everything" service. |
