Old newbie from London.
 

Just a quick line to say hello. I've had my 04 Xtx from new and use it as my winter rat/runabout, its done 25000 miles has been used and abused and treated really bad in its time, its only been serviced once in its ten years and is even running on its original coolant (not even topped up) By rights it should of died long ago but it keeps plugging along! My guilty conscience is now getting the better of me and so I'm on here to get the old git sorted out.

Welcome aboard! You're obviously a seasoned XT veteran so we'll probably learn a bit from you. So, when you said that the bike had only one service in 10 years, does that mean no oil change:crybaby:s at all?

Papa de fago, I just topped it up every now and then. About three years ago I did a full oil/filters/plugs/brakes/chain and sprocket type job on it and for a laugh stripped it all down and resprayed the whole bike on my garage floor! (paint cost �7.50 from Halfords) The bike hasn't been washed since. when I've worked out how I will post some photos.

Blimey poor old XTX, she surely deserves a little care and attention after being faithful to you over all these years eh???? Amazing how strong these bikes are eh??? Welcome on board and have fun mate, Simon
