Yes? No?

Your concern with this bike should be the bearings and the suspension if the bike went through Africa.

I think that should be a concern of any XT, of any age whether it's gone to Africa or not!

Dallas, I know one thing; if I buy the Ten (which I 99.99999% think I will), I will not sell it perhaps pas it on to my son or nephew. Ive always wanted a bike to keep until forever. Because the Tenere is so reliable, Im sure this is it.

Frodolin, which bearings in particular? The shocks are new Hyperpros so thats good.

Rear swingarm and linkages, steering head and wheel bearings.

Decisions decisions...

The one golden rule (from experience !) I've learned with buying used is if in any doubt walk away. There's been a few times when I didn't trust my instinct & didn't when I should have.
Just bear in mind high milers are tricky to re-sell so it could be in you garage for a while. Tough choice.:115:

Hi David,
yes, the bike is clean and all. But my thinking is that I go for a while then it starts giving me wear and tear problems at 85 000kms and more. I know the engine is bulletproof, but I rarely see bikes with such high milage advertised. Should I neg a price and then use the balance to upgrade? the mileage though....yikes.

Ps- how does one post a pic on here???

Before I bought my first XT, I saw a guy riding one and asked: You wanna sell? Yes he said, in another 60 000km. Where are you now I asked? Only 90 000km. My first one started to give me propblems at 150 000 he said.

What problems? I asked.

O, I had to replace the rear wheel swing arm bearing and the valve stem seals.

I bought an XT, and never looked back. (Well, sometimes I do, when the KTM's cut out :)

I just picked one up with 62 000km. Runs and rides like new.
