Your problem may be located in the conector of the rectifier.
A general problem of the 2008 model.
Once you charged the battery, it worked, right?
Then it stopped again during riding - battery low. I guess its either that problem or the battery is done...

Hi yeah first time I charged the battery it started but I think that was coincidence.it dosent stop while riding only when you turn the ignition off and then turn it back on it flashs up code 53 and wont start.around 200 times of turning the key on and off and it eventually started and was able to get home.charging system checks out fine and there was no corrosion or burning in rectifier connection. definitely thinking along the line of an immobiliser issue.thanks

Did you also check the battery terminals and the ground connection at the starter motor?
Had a similar problem once with a loose terminal / wire, bike runs ok, but after stopping the engine it wouldn`t start again.

Hi guys...i'm having somewhat the same issue...

Had the 53 code error last year for abt a month or so but it resolved by itself...

Currently no code displayed but the bike just tick away when the engine start button is pressed...click click click more than 5 times still wont start...so i changed a new battery yesterday and same thing...bike will eventually start after multiple attempts...

Really out of ideas now...any pics of the grounding at the starter motor? Been riding this bike for 5 years but kinda sucks on troubleshooting it...

Hey guys! Borrowing this thread.
I might have an issue like this aswell. Hoe did you sort it out? Was it a bad earth or the immobilizer? Where exactly is the starter motor?

My "keylight" flashes like crazy but not in a pattern as far as i can see. Also my screen starts to do the normal startup but then goes black and the keylight keeps flashing when the key stays on. The fuelpump does not prime.
Anither difference is that the bike is geting power. Taillights and heated grips work and the turn signals light up alittle if i look close. Sometimes the bik just starts as normal and is goos for a few days the thw same thing happens. No fuses blow or bad connections/worn cables that i have found!

Note; mine is the abs model.

I have no idea whats going on.
Any guesses?
