High miles, New Lump or Sell Cheap?

I've had my 05 XTX (Dirty Larry) since 2006 and have clocked 55503 miles (2000 was on there when I got him). He still pulls like a train but as I went to ride home i heard that dreaded deep knocking sound from way down in his belly. I nursed him home and put him to rest in the garden for now until I can afford to get him fixed. Luckily I was already looking around for a 2nd bike and I managed to get a great deal on Fleebay. Just need to to all the mods again. So I was curious how many members have got to a similar cross roads? Did you go through with a 2nd hand lump, engine rebuild or just try to sell the old horse on?

Read this - someone else in a similar boat to you! ;)

Question is - how emotionally attached to Dirty Larry are you..?

Sell it as it is then - just make sure the motor is warm when anyone comes to view it! ;)
