Hello from Ireland

Hi from SW Ireland - looking to replace my retired 600 Transalp with something bit newer and 660 Tenere is looking a likely candidate at the moment! Hopefully will find something soon ;-)

:006: Welcome on board.

Good luck with the search - you won't be disappointed when you get your hands on one!

:hello: and :welcome: to :660:

Welcome aboard, Chris! I visited SW Ireland in May and loved every minute of it. The scenery, the friendliness of people and the live music in the pubs all made it a memorable trip that I fully intend to repeat. Due to the distance from home and the fact that my mate rides a Blackbird, I rode my BMW but if I lived there, the Tenere would definitely be on my list of best bikes for exploring the back roads which I love to do. At times, I was wishing I was on my XTR! Good luck with your bike hunt.

Hello Chris and welcome to :660:

Good luck with your search

Thanks for the welcome - been distracted trawling interweb for bike! Might have found something suitable, unfortunately just stumbled across the 'gearbox' post :-(
Well I had to rebuild the Transalp engine just after buying it and it went on for another 50K miles - can do without that again...
The Transalp was perfect for round here Papa, until it was attacked from the side by a moron in a car and is written off - just got acceptance from third party insurance they'll pay so hunt is on for the replacement. Really gutting as I'd completely rebuilt it last winter, powder coated frame and engine(!) - looked great!
Did think about 700 Transalp til I saw the collector box - don't think that would work here! So looks like Tenere is still favourite ;-)

ps having trouble signing in with Tapatalk - gives me 'The usergroup you belong to does not have permission to login.' ??

Statistically speaking, the average motorcyclist (3000 miles a year) has got about the same chance of dying in a fatal motorcycle accident as they have of their XT gearbox failing. Bit morbid I know, but it puts the numbers into perspective. I really wouldn't fret too much about it. ;)

You need to join the supporter's scheme. It's a tenner and there are loads of other benefits besides access to Tapatalk. Click on the links in my signature to find out more.

I'll see what I can do...

CaptMoto 26-09-14 20:55

If you tell me what is your home IP address, I can see if it's one on the ban list and for what reason.

Don't tell me on the forum, send me a private message. Thanks

Ha ha! You're not getting it back now! It's mine

ChrisHX 29-09-14 09:40

Picked up my new (to me) bike over the weekend from 650ginge on here and a 350Km trip home from one side of Ireland to the other gave me time to get acquainted :icon_wink: Two things I found surprising - it's grand on the motorway! and the seat is comfortable (compared to my Transalp and 1150GS!).
Big thanks to Simon and good to meet you

:D. Lucky my phone went flat on the way home - would have got a fine shot of the bike with McGillycuddy Reeks in the background!!

Yeah, I thought the Karoo would be horrible but it wasn't too bad. Anyway got a set of Mitas E07s in the garage which will go on shortly - fantastic tyres on the Transalp so no reason to think they'll be different on the XT.

Hi Chris. Bike looks great, nice in white too. Awesome first ride across Ireland, one I'd like to do. Enjoy :-)

Papa de Fago 03-10-14 12:56

I like that! If I wasn't such a short-a*se, I'd happily trade my R for one of those.Enjoy!
