Idle revs

Hi peeps, over the last year I've noticed my idle revs have dropped to just over 1000 revs, bikes done 17k miles. I didn't adjust the valve clearances at 12k service, but am planning on doing them at 18k, would valve clearance have any effect on idle revs? And how the hell do you get something on the idle adjust screw??? Any thoughts/advice greatly appreciated.

Use long noise pliers if you can't get a screw driver to yours, idle should be set to 1500rpm.

Idle ******

I've noticed my indle is at 1500rpm when cold but when it's hot or if you come off the throttle quickly It can then drop the idle to 1000rpm. I've had it stall on me before after coming off the throttle quickly and it's backfiring a bit more.
It's only been doing it recently ( since I went onto a stage 3 filter with the kev mod set at the 6 o'clock position ) ?
Could it be the good weather were having in the uk?

Idle adjustments should be made to a engine at full opertaing temp before hand it will be slightly higher
