very rich

hi iv fitted my mtc can 660x
it didn't seem to run as nice so as a quick fix till iv gone the better route remap fueling etc. brought this thing that plugs into lambda plug a base setting thing recomemded for after market cans etc after doing a 18 mile trip its definatly running richer as my jacket stinks exhaust fumes.
so I got home crimped the pipe ais I think and removed snorkel. will try this. failing that running to rich can cause the same damage as to lean cant it ?
mtc said just fit and ride ? but it was awfull if honest
small HELP lol

Those plug in O2 sensor eliminators don't work and is probably why it's now over rich. The ECU needs to receive more complex information than what you get from a simple resistor bridging the connections (which is all these plugs are). Also the heater element connections are bridged too, so the O2 sensor's heater doesn't operate, which will in a fairly short space of time knacker the O2 sensor completely.

Remove it and reconnect the O2 sensor plug.

Quite why fitting the MTC cans made it feel worse, I'm not sure? Could you explain how it felt worse?

Not really. Running rich will just spoil performance, cost you a fortune in fuel and the motor will get particularly "boggy" when warm and stall more easily in hot weather. In rare cases, a very rich mixture can cause "bore wash", where excess fuel washes around the piston rings causing excessive engine wear and the chances of fuel getting into the oil, but it does have to be so rich that neat petrol is coming out the exhaust! Bore wash normally occurs when an injector gets stuck open and you really notice the fuel consumption drop off, sometimes into single figures! ;)

Andy please ask Kev about his fuel mod / 02 eliminators they have a 100% satisfaction rate in this forum.

will be getting kevs fuel mod for sure.
the cans made it feel lean very hesitant on pull away and it stalled cold and warm when approaching junctions. had to keep blipping throttle

You can help the stalling simply Andy, just look at the throttle body and locate the idleing screw, increase the tickover a little bit ideally between 1450-1550 rpm, this will help keep a small flow of fuel when you shut the throttle, to display the rev counter mode follow this link: http://www.xt660.com/showthread.php?...=Co+adjustment

+1 the plug in resistor O2 eliminators don't work on any XT660, when we proved this a few years ago Dynojet removed all their O2 eliminators off the market.
