off road newbie, poor quility video.

This is my 3rd time ever off road, i tried mounting to the bike which may explain the quality. it's a sand lane.

Does the engine sound right? any advice and riding tips are greatly welcome.

+1 That's the main objective ticked off!

The more hours you put in, the more your confidence (and speed) will grow. However, speed isn't everything. Everyone always takes the pi55 out of me for being a bit on the steady side, but it doesn't bother me. Just enjoy, go at your own speed, whatever you feel comfortable with, and if you ever go riding in a group, don't let others dictate your pace (just like on a road ride). A good mate/riding companion will always wait for you further down the track.

Bike sounds OK. Were you slipping the clutch a bit?

Simon 08-07-14 00:41

Yeah i had to keep slipping the clutch, my bikes a bit snatchy and surges. slowly working towards curing it.

What the video doesn't show is just how many exsposed roots there are and how rutted the ground was.

PhilinFrance 08-07-14 07:17

What tyres you wearing Simon ?

Simon 08-07-14 15:59

She's wearing Tourance at the moment, but I'm thinking of either k60's or some tkc80's

PhilinFrance 08-07-14 16:04

Go for the TKCs they're very forgiving on and off road and if you can find someone to ride with off road all the better

Cheers guys.

I've studied the local councils BOATs rithlessly prior to getting the bike, and luckily that lane is on my way to work so it's a goot excuse to practice most days on my way.

The biggest part wrecking my confidence right now is the snatchy throttle, but fingers crossed i'll be doing the throttle mod this weekend to smooth the whole thing out.

How are the TK's in snow? i ride all yr round which was one of the factors in getting the bike and where i work we catch the snow pretty well in the winter. (i've done it the past 6yrs on road bikes)
