New brake pads: original or upgrade ???

Hi There,

My brakepads are worn and i need new pads.
Should i go for original of a upgrade?

OTR has Lucas pads. http://www.off-the-road.de/en/XT-660...0-X-front.html

Does anyone have experience with it? Do you guys drive with the stock yamaha brake or something else?

Hi,
I use the original or at least Brembo pads. Well the OEMs are Brembo pads.
I think they are best. I have used EDC brakes and they were pretty bad.
I had to brake them in. So to say they got there full potential after a significant period of riding. About 500 kms. The OEM brake pads do not need such braking in. They brake with there maximum performance right from the start.

Cheers,
Marcus

I'd tend to agree with Marcus' sentiment. I've tried OE/Brembo, EBC sintered, EBC Organic and the Lucas pads from OTR. IMHO the OE ones are probably the best combination of feel, braking and wear rate and they aren't really any dearer than aftermarket pads. The sintered EBC seem to eat discs, don't last as long as OE, but do stop well. The Organic EBC lack bite, wear quick, but work best in the wet. The Lucas pads performed somewhere in between the two EBC offerings.

It's all a personal thing though (like suspension). Choice of pad depends on how you use your bike: Percentage on road, off road etc, the climate in which you live, how hard you ride and how you like your brake balance/feel.
