Can't match some of those efforts! Best I've done was a couple of 640km days, one when a rock cut my rear tyre and tube and I found out how much I love zip ties, my centrestand and hate security rims. I then had to ride into the night for 200km or so (never fun with the terrible standard lighting) and <3degC (never fun for me! Though no probs for tough Euro people).

Nothing really seems to bother my Tenere. Mid 40deg to slightly sub zero, rough or smooth (especially with upgraded suspension), corners, straights and so on, it does everything I need it to without being outstanding at anything except

1. being versatile
2. being able to heat your lower legs to flash point during hot, summer rides

Like Mike101, every time I think about selling it, I go for a ride and realise there's nothing I can think of to replace it. I initially bought it instead of a 1200GS, and I still (with great respect) don't want or need a 690 or an 800, 990, 1190 or 1200.

So I hope the Tenere keeps going for a long time yet.

That is a truly excellent pic, minkyhead!

Well I think that it all comes down to MONEY at the end of the day. I explain. When we start biking we buy er 1 motorbike and it must be all things to all men. So my first road bike was a Suzuki GT185 2 stroke and I thought that it was soooooo fast hehe. Then I started to earn some dosh so I went to an RD400 (mmmmmmm) and then a CB750 and started to discover a love of touring and France and the Bol D'Or and things.
Now I am older so I have 7 bikes so one or two for every need.
My beloved XT660X is a wonderful jack of all trades and if I had only one bike I think that I would choose her.

I've written a 7000 word ride report about our trip to the Pyrenees (two up) at the beginning on June. Report is now being edited by my wife and then I'll be adding many many pics with hundreds more to see on photobucket. Keep an eye out, within the week I'll have it published!
