I've been following your report on BR but hadn't replied yet since I never bothered registering over there.

Great report, but too bad you had such sh*t weather. We're leaving on Sunday, and it looks like the forecasts are at least a bit better for us.

Thanks duibhceK

The road I planned is about 50/50 between tarmac and unpaved. But I am expecting having to turn back now and then due to blocked or washed out roads. Especially in Montenegro and Albania and on teh return trip in Eastern Bosnia where the floods hit hardest.

Good luck mate and a little note, not many places took Euros in rural Bosnia, cards ok in garages though

Thanks for the heads-up, but I've been before so know more or less what to expect and still have some Marks from previous trips ;)

Glad to see you still had the odd day of sunshine on your trip. You should go back there sometime when the weather is nicer. It is a truly amazing region when the sun is out.

Bags

Hey Phil, just read your ride report. Just wondered how you get on with the giant loop luggage. Does it fit the bike well and work well? I guess you'll know from that trip whether it's really waterproof or not!

I'm just working out what soft luggage to get for mine. Looking at the giant lop stuff and stuff by Enduristan.

PhilinFrance 08-06-14 14:49

Hi mb4807
Ive had the GL for some years now , its done Marocco 3 x and the Pyrennes half a dozen plus lots more
I bought mine for the "OFF ROAD" qualities and no need for frame, it isn't 100% waterproof i reckon even from new 80% so i use dry bags inside ,all medium or little and write on them what's in each !!!
Thats the worst thing about them, packing , but you do learn to pack the right way.
I looked into the likes of the Magadan bags but the frame put me off

Ohh nearly forgot , mines a COYOTE and i find it more than big enough, i was carrying enough gear for a month in the RxR the next size up (can't remember the name) is massive !!

First class photos and write-up Phil. :023:

Taken me a while to get through it all, but thoroughly enjoyed it.

Shame about the rain, but the good thing is the wet keeps the tourists hunkered up in their hotels keeping them well out the way of us touraphobic folk!

Hope the old thyroid starts behaving itself again and doesn't get too much in the way of new adventures...

PhilinFrance 10-06-14 08:46

Cheers Pleiades

I sure can babble on !!!! and thanks for your wishes on the Thyriod ! i wouldn't wish it on anyone
