New styling for xtx

1 Attachment(s)
Hi all, I've been busy, and thought I might share my little project with you all.
Much as I love my xtx the one thing that lets its looks down ( for me ) is the huge! Tail end! Now I have looked everywhere for a decent bolt on tail tidy that doesn't require any! Cutting of the original stuff, but alas nout! ( Nothing to my satisfaction anyway ) So I decided to do it my self. It's not finished yet but will be soon, so the following pictures are of my progress to date, feel free to comment if you wish.

Ok so this is the mock up design I've settled on, I decided to go the whole hog and make it a tail tidy/ pan.

I've tried to keep the styling the same as the rest of the body work

I've mounted it as simply as possible with 2 (screws at the moment) soon to be s/s button bolts, to the flange at the bottom used to attach the original rubber splash guard, and at the top with 2 bolts to the original frame tags on the underside of the tail.

Nice one mate. Is the whole tray hollow, useable? What is the shell material you've used? Looks like a good job!

Hi ozzz, yes the whole pan is empty, 2 reasons, one for ease of fitting indicators, number plate and reflector nuts and bolts. And2 it has created another storage space, for me, that's to put my bike cover in, but could be used for anything really! The finished article will be cast from 2/3 layers of grp, should be nice and light.:icon_burnout[1]:
