Fuel filter
Is there a fuel filter on the Tenere?
I can't find any trace of one? Mike |
Not surprised you'd couldn't find one - it's well hidden! ;)
It's part of the fuel pump. In order to get at it you need to remove the fuel pump, then push in the tabs and prize apart the outer casing (that forms the mounting plate) to expose the end of pump itself. On the bottom of the pump you'll find a pillow-shaped gauze sack, which is the filter... http://i864.photobucket.com/albums/a...psda904c28.jpg If you disassemble the pump, don't break anything - there 700 new!! |
Has anyone here any pictures or film of taking out the fuel filter, and pump. As my xt660z is now nine years of age and with some 35,000 miles on the clock, I think a new filter may be in need.
Any tips and advice would be appreciated, also, are the fuel pumps really around the seven hundred pound mark!? As stated above. Where did THAT figure come from...had a look on the Web and... http://www.motorcycle.loc8apart.co.u...Fuel-Pumps.php |

The actual pump has always been available separately from third party suppliers on ebay for anywhere between 25 and 50, and yes they are all Chinese in origin. However, that is only the internal pump. The point I made with respect to the OP is still relevant though, even three years on: Be very very careful when disassembling your fuel pump assembly to replace the internal pump inside. The casing is brittle and easily broken and rendered useless, and said casing is NOT available from any aftermarket source! Even at 450, you still don't want to break it. ;) |
