out of the box
yesterday my new ride came to me at last :).. its brand new 2014 660z tenere.. According to the user manual during the first 1000km of engine break-in i should not rev it over 4500rpm... i am keen on hearing about any other tips for the first 1000km ...
first ride is like a dream, i loved it, i am very happy to have 1 after the first 10km... The veteran (Bmw r 80 ) was good ,but Tenere is great :) |
Congrats mate!
Know the feeling - when I bough mine brand new back in 2011. Enjoy it ! Pics, pics, pics!!!! |

:hello: and :welcome: to :660:
I've seen people unboxing's ritual on youtube usually about their new electronic gizmo or playstation, but never seen the unboxing of a motorbike. Good luck she looks great!!! :bravo: |
:006: Welcome on board mate.
Regarding the break in period, my only advice would be to set yourself a challenge to get those 1000Km covered in as short a time as possible! ;) (Took me about three days if my memory serves me right.) |
thanks for the warm welcome :) .. i dont even get the plates and do other burocratic bull****,so riding around is a bit like gta, avoiding cops and stuff:runaway:
Yam Dealer is my friend so i get the bike before the all the legal stuff is done :) ... so first 1000km will be done probably next week, after the official deal is done.. here is some more "box" photos.. http://s25.postimg.org/c28fj2brf/201...chtone_HDR.jpg http://s25.postimg.org/8751ghsln/201...chtone_HDR.jpg http://s25.postimg.org/eyvgjchl7/201...chtone_HDR.jpg http://s25.postimg.org/tjcje6cjv/20140318_171007.jpg http://s25.postimg.org/cwuz53jm3/20140318_171244.jpg |

Welcome to the forums...I trust you'll enjoy your time here.
For me with 2 and 4 bangers...I just ride them after they're warmed up as normal....I usually try and get a few long hill descents and let the engine braking help bed the rings...... (As an aside when I got a new XR400 before it said in the manual to run in for only 25kms!!) :) . |
thx :) i am trying to use engine braking like u said.. i am very happy with xtz :) its getting better after each ride.... and the forum is also awesome... i will post more pics and comments when i can.. cheers :)
