A bit of a fettle (ongoing)

Hi all, dont know if anyones interested but thought it was about time i bunged some pics up of my XTX & the clean up so far. Bought it just before Christmas, bog standard grey & although it looks ok in the "before" picture close up it was a bit rough around the edges but the price, year & mileage were ok.
The decals had been removed by a previous owner so there were light & dark patches on the air scoops & a few rub marks here & there, cig burn on the seat, the all too familiar Yamaha poor prep & paint on engine casings & swingarm, seized rear brake, (cheers Pleiades) a few other bits & bobs plus it looked like it had never seen a sponge.

Fettled, primed, painted & lacqured using the Carplan YAV089, not a brilliant match so had to do most of the lower engine.

Got the panels back from painters & he's done a lovely job, not on bike yet as there are still things to clean up & sort when i get the time.

Got my stage 1 & 2 DNA filters waiting in the garage & no doubt i'll be needing the Kev mod. More pics soon. Cheers, D.

Looking good so far!

Nice work! :023:

I love the yellow and black/white speed block paint scheme - reminds me of an RD400 I had back in the day. In fact, it's always been floating in the back of mind, that one day, when I get bored enough with black and run out of things to amuse myself in the shed, the Ten might just get similar treatment...

You make it sound like I seized your rear brake! ;)

Can't wait to see the whole picture when it's completed.

Looks good, the finned product is going to be great, Funny how that old yellow black scheme takes every one back to the good old days. I would like to spay my engine, looks like a lot of work.
