I got my Avon Distanzia from Essential Rubber (Sorry don't have the slip anymore). Since then my bike picks up a wobble at about 75mph, took it too them twice and they couldn't fix it. Took it somewhere else they checked it, the balancing was out a bit and the tyre was over inflated (not the main cause of my issue). One of the guys at Essential Rubber told me that he checked the balancing again when I took it back the 2nd time and it was fine, he never took my wheel off the bike so I don't know how he checked it again. The actual problem is that my front tyre wasn't moulded correctly, it's a bit warped. It's almost time for a new set of tires so I doubt they going to replace the faulty one now and like I said I didn't keep the slip.

So I won't be going back to Essential Rubber. I do love Avon Distanzia though, they stick like glue and my cornering has gotten a lot better. I just can't go faster then 75 mph on them.

Brett, I am surprised to read this. I know at least a 100 people in London that are Essential Rubber clients and all of them can't praise them enough.

If it was proven that the tyre was incorrectly moulded (not Essential Rubber's fault but Avon) then you could have at least asked to have that tyre sent back to Avon for inspection, with or without receipt the tyre is an Avon and they should check to see if there really is something wrong with it.

Essential Rubber were probably looking for the obvious reasons for the high speed wobble which is either over inflation or incorrect balancing.

Give them another chance mate they are some of the best in London, each one of them riders that like to work with riders. If you do make sure you keep the receipt this time, also don't forget to mention the forum as you will get a 10% discount.

That is caused by incorrect air inflation in the tyre, or because you don't lean the bike enough in the corners, and you probably have done too many miles on motorways when the bike tends to be perpendicular to the road.

But then again nothing great or confidence inspiring about it either, especially for the appalling mileage. Had the same tyres on my CCM R30 as OE, unfortunately it was stolen before it came time to change them, but I wouldn't have got the Dragons again for exactly the same reason.

Get some Avon Distanzia, the :660: favourite tyre choice. You will thank me for this. :icon_thumright:

Did do Capt! Pretty sure I like it, the back end feels more planted, but not tried it in anger due to either being on unfamiliar roads and/or rain since I got it last Saturday. Should rectify that and give it some stick this weekend as the sun is out. Just wish I'd had the cash to get the front at the same time.

Tkc 80 turned out to be a excellent alround tyre. used for out 4500 mile round trip to Morocco. riden two up / in the dry and wet, and also a lot of off road use. They were tested down to 4c and as high as 44c and still offered excellent grip in all conditions.

FINAL COMMENTS ON TYRES PERFORMANCE:great tyre in terms of performance, reaches working temp. very quickly, offers great grip, only bad side is wear.when i've done around 7000km i didnt have any grooves on the side of both tyres i cut around 1mm of groove on the sides but it lasted around 1000km so basically i am riding on tyres with insufficient groove depth for the last 2000km.

i heard that the new roadsmart2 will have the same characteristics and better mileage than roadsmart. my choice for 2013 is continental sportattack2 i read i my local moto magazine that these are for "corner seekers" and i got them at a good price(210� and 6� delivery). i also want to see the difference between a touring(dunlop roadsmart) and a sport(conti sportattack2) tyre.

How strange is that, I've been working in London since 2001 and riding up through the Blackwall Tunnel from Rainham in Kent virtually every day, and it wasn't till I started reading this tyre thread yesterday I just found out where Essential Rubber are based!! turns out I've been riding/driving past them every day!! They are tucked away and you do have to look carefully but its handy to know and I will be giving them a call as soon as my tyres need replacing.

I dont know how they last but.....

FINAL COMMENTS ON TYRES PERFORMANCE: Great mileage from the PR2's. No issues with grip when warmed up but found the rear would slip easily when cold. Felt confident in the wet. Just fitted Distanzias and will be happy if I can get about 8-10000km from these.
