XT660R dangerously cutting out.

Hi guys I'm having a bit of problem.
Just bought a 2006 XT660R with 2000 miles on the clock.
I rode it home and with 2 miles cut out on me locking the back wheel (briefly as if I'd aggressively down shifted), I pulled into the side of the road and restarted the bike without any problems and set off again, same thing happened. After about repeating this two more times, the bike will only tick over for about 10 seconds before cutting out again.
I had a look at my ECU and it's the 00 one with no white dot (so it hasn't been changed) I've heard there was a recall for this but as the bike isn't under warranty, I'm looking at an extortionate amount to upgrade it myself.
Could anyone tell me how else I could sort this problem?
Will the Kev mod that I keep hearing about, sort this out (bearing in mind it cuts out at any revs, not just at idle)
Will a power commander sort this out too?
Heard some mentioning of the TPS also being recalled?
Any help would be greatly appreciated, this bike is literally unrideable and it's nearly caused a crash already!

go into the screen diagnostics and check its running at 1500rpm no lowerhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xWYB59IgCIo

It idles just fine at rpughly 1500 but then starts to stutter and cut out. It'll cut out after the same amount of time no matter what revs I use.

Could try removing the petrol cap might be vacuum locking ?

Mine cut out once setting off from some lights and i presumed it was the TPS.

Its a 2004 bike; i rang Yamaha UK who had me take the bike to the dealers, they verified it was the old type TPS and i am getting a new one for free. Yamaha can see on the system if it's already been done, mine had been but for what ever reason it still had an old style one on. Check out the stickys, all the info's in there.

I have to say though it only happened once and hasnt happened since, going to call in at the dealers next week and see whats happening as i'm still waiting for a call to book it in, 3 months later

TPS recall.

What is your CO1 set to?

If you got it from a dealer take it back.:smilies0134:

Bought it privately I'm afraid, I've asked the seller for any tips/info but I'm not going to threaten or harass him as it was my decision to buy it in the first.
I doubt Yamaha would recall it now, although I'll phone them tomorrow anyway.

The CO1 setting was at 30, I've since ajusted it to 0,
10,15, 35 but it doesn't seem to make a difference :/
I read about adjusting the TPS so I might try that before shelling out on a new bit.

Thanks for the replies so far guys, I'm a little miffed and worried to say the least.
Was a cracking bike to ride fir that first mile though! ;)

Done a bit of fiddling.
Went into the diagnostic menu and found that the TPS had a reading of 13 at closed throttle. I've adjusted it and it now reads 17 at closed throttle, 98 at open throttle, but hasn't made a difference :(

Noticed that when I go into CO1 and start the engine to see the rev counter, it just reads 0, no matter what I do with the revs. Could this have anything to do with my problem?
