Hello everybody!

Hello guys and girls,

I am an 37 yo romanian IT developer who, at this time, does not own (yet) the bike of his dreams (i.e. XT660R). I hope this will change soon (I am talking about owning the bike, not about being an 37 yo romanian IT developer) and have my first bike. I know, I know, the XT660R is not the perfect beginner's bike, but motorcycling is anything but rational, anyway.

Greetings!

P.S. I will stick around, since I am not aware of the modifications I should make in order to significantly reduce the surging problem with small(ish) costs, as I am not interested in increasing the bike's performances.

Hi and welcome,

XTR and XTX I've found are pretty easy bikes to ride, nice and light. I think these bikes are pretty much perfect for riders of all skill levels, learner to advanced. You'll love it.

Heaps of info on this site about mods to sort out the surging.

cheers Glenn

I don't know about that, I'd say any of the XT range would make a pretty damn good first bike! ;)

Hello again folks!
Well, this is it! I am the owner of a 2006 XT660R. The bike is in good condition, except for the tires (Metzeller Tourance do not suppose to be square slicks, right?) and the spark plug, which has black electrodes. We will see if this is because of a too rich air-fuel mixture (maybe following-up the modification of CO value in order to reduce the surging effect) or because of the cheap spark plug itself.
The bad news is I am not able to play with it in the following period of time, first because I don't have the registration plate yet, and second... the winter finally came in my country also.
