Oil consumption

Just did my first few kilometres on the ten and noticed the bike consumes about 1 litre of oil per 5000 kms. Is this expected? My old klr would never drink that much!

If its been/being over-filled than it is quite possible that a litre might well disappear in that distance, mostly into the airbox. Are you getting a lot of oil in the airbox drain tube?

Air box is quite dry. Have not checked tube.

But I do check oil levels and they are within specs ie no overfill that I can tell.

What oil is it? Mine would piss fully synth 10/40 but since I switched to 20/50 (after 60,000m) it hardly drinks any.

Interesting....i was on motul 5100 10/40. Just about to replace with penrite 10/50.

I use mineral purely because it is readlily available in N America and is cheap. Usually around $6 a litre. I would prefer Semi Synth but it is twice as much and difficult to find.
