Hi from Cambridge

Finally did it , bought a 2010 xtz two weeks ago , wanted one for a while now to go with my dr650rse and z550(one owner). Hoping to do some touring when the sun comes out , your experience with the right accessories and mods is most helpfull. Just one question , do all xtz pop on a closed throttle (to many two strokes mean I have a habit of blipping the throttle) the bike is in standard trim. Thanks for listening and a happy new year.

Yep, they all do that. It is just an emissions device that bleeds air into the exhuast on a closed throttle called "AIS" (air injection system). It can easily be blocked to prevent the popping with no ill effects on reliability, performance or economy.

Welcome along. I'm new here too having just bought an XT660X. I am looking forward to the popping sound when slowing down. I think it sounds funny and being childlike simple things make me laugh.
I have a GSX1400 that makes the same noise and all users of that bike say "remove the P.A.I.R's" but it make me smile so I've not yet done it. Only had the bike 11 years but it's on my "to do" list!! (I put that list somewhere!)
