Sloppy sidestand

As above , when retracted it's sloppy as though the spring dont pull it up enough ! I renewed the spring but its the same !
What could be the problem ??

It's probably the keeper part of the stand thats fixed to the bike , the female bit , it tends to splay out after time !!

Easy fix, take stand off , get a heavy hammer behind the female bit and smack with another hammer on the opposite side !!!

Keep trying the stand in the gap untill snug

Hope this helps
Phil

No it's not got much play in it in that direction . Its when its folded up , its as though the springs not strong enough . When i go over bumps the stand moves up and down ..

If it's not what Phil suggested, then take a look to see if the hole has become oval in the mounting attached to the bike. Whip the stand off and check.

Quite often the hole becomes oval over time due to the bolt rocking as the bike's weight is put on the stand and released; this happens particularly if the slot in the stand has become splayed (as mentioned).

I've also checked the hole and all is well . I just can't get my head around it ! Its as though the spring is to short .

Don't you mean too long? :eusa_think:

The spring originaly is a double one allready.
If you have got just a single one on, i guess you`ve lost one.

Ive sorted it . It was the spring mount on the stand that was bent , it came from the previous owner like this . It needed bending towards the front of the bike (when the stands down) . Its amazing that bending it just 5mm made such a difference ..
